GhostBed Mattress Protector (Review)

If you are moving to a new place then one needs to consider what items one needs to buy, upgrade, or replace. In our case, we have more rooms in our new place than our current one, and luckily enough, we got a hand-me-down bed.

The only problem? There’s no mattress protector on the bed we inherited. Good thing GhostBed came to the rescue and offered us a mattress protector in exchange for an honest review. How cool is that? We saved a little bit of money. Yay!

GhostBed Mattress Protector (Review)

Now note that even though we got a product in exchange for a review, all our opinions are entirely ours.

Ok, disclosure aside, here’s what we thought of the product.

Buying the Product

Ghost Bed makes the ordering process a breeze – a few clicks online on their website and you can easily locate the product and select the size of the bed that you have.

In our case, we got a queen bed size (thinking we will buy a queen bed but got a full size one instead). Spoiler alert: It still fit the full size bed though!

Shipping is free on all the orders, and you will normally get the product within 2 days. Think Amazon, but more niche.

Our Thoughts

Once the product arrived on our front door, we were surprised at how small the packaging was. It’s very compact and flat, so easier to store in a closet if you don’t need it yet.

The protector is waterproof (although we didn’t bother to test it out), so if you have spills on the bed because of a baby, or just for any other reason (things happen), the mattress underneath it won’t get ruined. Mattress protectors are far easier to replace (and cheaper) as compared to an actual mattress itself.

The protector works with any other brand of mattress, but of course, they will be more ideally paired with a GhostBed branded mattress itself.

The elastic band (called GhostGrip), helps keep the mattress protector in place, making it easy to just strip the sheets out (without stripping the protector out). Perfect for quick turnover days between guests!

The material also helps eliminate allergens, so if you have a guest sensitive to allergies, then this product is definitely good for them as well (my brother in law is allergic to dust and other microbes, and so far, no complaints)

Final Thoughts

The mattress protector definitely served its purpose with us, however, the price point makes it a bit more unaffordable to certain people.

This protector costs 4 to 5 times more (at full price, not counting offers or coupons you may have) than what big box retailers are offering, so definitely not for people who are on a tight budget.

I’m not sure how good it is as compared to the other store brands as we don’t intend on pouring liquids on it just as a test, but I would say it could be at par, but with probably better materials, and of course, a 10 year warranty.

Note that GhostBed is a small company based in Florida so the pricing may also be in part because you are supporting a smaller, local US company instead of something made somewhere else.
