Guide to Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady Restaurants

Virgin Voyages Restaurants and Dining on Scarlet Lady

Virgin Voyages is hands down the best cruise line we have ever cruised with. We may not be cruise experts, but this company definitely spoiled us for choice. Here is our ultimate guide of the Virgin Voyages restaurants based on our dining experience.

Note: This post is NOT sponsored (how I wish). We paid for the cruise ourselves and this post is based on our honest opinions.

Want to read more about cruising? Here are some articles we wrote:

First, in order to fully experience all the restaurants and food options Virgin has to offer, you need to make a plan. If you don’t make a plan and just ‘wing it’, you probably will end up dining at the same restaurant multiple times. If you want to try all 6 restaurants, you’ll need to get dining reservations in advance.

How to get Virgin Voyages Restaurant Dining Reservations

Unless you are staying in a Rockstar Suite (hello big spender), dining reservations open 30 days before your sail date on the Virgin Voyages app. You can’t make reservations online, everything has to be done through the app, so make sure you download it and connect your account to the cruise at least a month before.

For Rockstar Suites, dining reservations open more than 90 days before your sail date. This pretty much guarantees you availability to eat in the restaurants you want on the dates you need before everyone else has a chance to reserve.

Don’t fret if you’re not technologically savvy though. You could also make dining reservations on the ship when you board. Head on to the Sailor Services area on Deck 5 and they have a desk for dining reservations there. Not sure if they reserve spots for booking onboard vs the app though!

Alternatively, you could wing it and try to get on a virtual waitlist where the receptionist will check what time you can go back and dine in if you don’t have a reservation. If the restaurant is already full for the evening, they can offer to reserve a spot for you provided there’s availability.

Which Virgin Voyages Restaurants do you need a reservation to?

You absolutely need a reservation for Extra Virgin, which is the Italian restaurant, and Test Kitchen, which is the experimental culinary experience. If you want to eat brunch during peak hours (between 11am to 1pm) at the Wake, then you need to make reservations in advance.

We were turned away at the Wake for brunch the first time we tried to eat there since there was no availability that day. They did offer to reserve us a spot in some of the other dates that’s available. However, if it’s your last day before disembarking or if you have other plans, then tough luck, maybe you’ll get to experience it on the next cruise

Best Virgin Voyages Restaurants (in our opinion)

Virgin does NOT have any charge for specialty dining. Great concept, as all 6 restaurants serve quality food.  Here’s a list (In our opinion) of the best restaurants to dine in:

  1. Extra Virgin (Italian)
  2. Gunbae (Korean)
  3. Test Kitchen
  4. The Wake (American/Steak/Seafood)
  5. Pink Agave (Mexican)
  6. Razzle Dazzle (Vegan with a naughty menu for non-vegans)

Before we get too ahead of ourselves, we will discuss the restaurants one by one. We discuss the menu options that we loved, how the ambience feels, and why we like it.

Extra Virgin (Italian) Hours and Location

Hours: Dinner only

Location: Deck 6, aft (at the back of the boat), after all the shops

This restaurant is only open for dinner and is one of the most popular spots to eat. Reserve if there are any open spots. If you try to just walk in, you may get a late night spot, which may or may not fit in with your entertainment plans for the evening.

Location is a plus since it’s close to the High Street – easy access to walk around the shops after dinner!

Extra Virgin (Italian) Menu and Review (Virgin Voyages Restaurants)

The feeling you get when you enter Extra Virgin is the same feeling you would get if you walked into an upscale Italian place somewhere in NYC. The lighting, the mood, the music, it’s all a really great presentation.

Here is a rundown of the dishes that we tasted:

Appetizers

  • Semolina Fried Calamari
  • Salumi (selection of meats)
  • Formaggi (selection of cheeses)

Pasta

  • Oxtail Agnolotti
  • Bucatini Carbonara

Secondo (Main Entrée)

  • Porcini-Rubbed New York Strip

Dessert

  • Chocolate Olive Oil Cake
  • Ricotta Bomboloni
  • Gelato (Whiskey Crema)
  • Gelati (Vanilla)
  • Sorbetti (Limoncello)

We both loved that it wasn’t just a straightforward appetizer, entree, and dessert type of dinner. You had two different types of appetizers (charcuterie was one type and the other was the antipasti). These are meals for sharing, so you can order one or more of each, just to try it out.

If you are a fan of calamari, order it! Same for the meat and cheese selection. They’re legit and made us feel like we are abroad having a culinary experience.

Next comes a pasta course that can be ordered before the secondo, otherwise known as the main entree. A pasta can serve as a standalone entree or can be served alongside a different entree. There are two portions: half and full. In our case, I ordered half a portion of the carbonara to complement the steak.

If ordering a steak, they ask you how you want it cooked, and the pasta on the side is amazing.

How to get free gelato and an alcoholic drink shot at Extra Virgin

There are two different types of desserts: one was gelato and the other the usual assortment of cakes. Other cruise lines charge you extra for gelato, but Virgin offers it for free if you eat in Extra Virgin! Granted, there are only 3 gelato flavors (vanilla, chocolate, and whiskey crema). For those who are vegan or lactose intolerant, there’s sorbets, which we got a chance to try as well.

After you finish the entire meal, the server will bring you an Italian digestif to consume, as is done traditionally in Italy. A digestif is a sweet/bitter-ish liqueur that you consume after your meal to aid with your digestion. The digestif offered at Extra Virgin was on the sweeter side. Throughout the dinner, the service was impeccable and we thought this had the best service on the ship out of all the restaurants.

The servers help explain every single meal to you and encourage you to try different things from the menu. It’s a good thing though, since the menu is designed to be authentic and written in Italian!

Gunbae Information, Hours and Location (Korean)

Hours: Dinner only

Location: Deck 15, behind the Galley on the aft (backmost part of the ship)

Gunbae is a traditional Korean BBQ place on the ship. I honestly was really, really excited to try Gunbae out since we don’t have Korean BBQ places where we live. The last time we tried this experience was in NYC and it can cost a pretty penny. To have this restaurant included for free is a plus!

The seating for Gunbae is shared, with 6 people sharing one grill. We walked in as soon as they opened at 5:30PM and got a table immediately. We waited a few minutes until they seated 2 more couples at our table, and the fun began.

Pro Tip: Want to eat at Gunbae or Extra Virgin without a reservation? Try going there on the first night of the cruise as soon as they open. Chances are, people are out partying by the pool deck for the sail away party so you can definitely get a chance to be seated first thing.

Gunbae Menu and Review (Virgin Voyages Restaurants)

If you want some quiet time with just your party and enjoy your meal in peace, then Gunbae is not the place for you! Gunbae is just a party from start to finish. You will be seated with a few other people around a circular-shaped table and right off the bat, one of the servers will be there giving you a shot of soju each. I mean, that’s quite a start to a meal, right?

Before you drink your glass of soju, you will be roped into a drinking game. I won’t go into the details, as it’s best to find it out for yourself, but suffice it to say that it’s a lot of fun and everyone gets to drink their glass.

Gunbae provides this free shot of soju every time you dine in, so best to schedule time to go here just to try this Korean alcoholic drink.

Here’s what we ate in Gunbae (pretty much the whole menu available during our Dec 2020 cruise)

Gunbae Appetizers

  • Seaweed Salad
  • Mung Bean Pancake
  • Seafood Corn Dog
  • Seafood Pancake
  • Crispy Chicken

Gunbae Rice/Noodles

  • Bibimbap (rice)
  • Japchae (noodles)
  • Kimchi Stew

Gunbae Grill Items

  • Mushrooms & assorted veggies
  • Squid/Octopus/Shrimp
  • Short Ribs
  • Pork Belly
  • Bacon
  • Various beef slices

Dessert

  • Soft Serve Ice Cream

The menu is not overly complicated, and you don’t need to worry about it anyway, because the server will pretty much order for you and bring everything that is available on the menu for the table.  And when I mean everything, I mean everything. Noodle dish, rice dish, a whole variety of appetizers like seaweed and kimchi and a bunch of others, and we haven’t even gotten to the main entree items.

We tried all of the main entree items, like squid, octopus (both delicious), pork belly, short rib, bacon, steak, and it was all good and more than filling. These will be cooked in front of you by your server on the grill. The best items were the pork belly and the octopus, in our view. Be sure to also try the Bibimbap, an excellent rice dish.

It’s a sharing menu so you’ll really get to know the other parties on your table. It’s a fun way to start the cruise because you’ll end up meeting other people that you’ll see around the cruise eventually.

The dessert is soft serve ice cream, but there are multiple interesting flavors in it and the presentation is creative, even though it is just swirled in a bowl. Definitely give dessert a try, this is not your run of the mill soft serve ice cream.

Pink Agave Information, Hours and Location (Mexican)

Hours: Dinner only

Location: Deck 5 (same as Sailor Services). You won’t miss it because it’s got a very photo-friendly entrance

Do you like Chipotle? Pink Agave isn’t the same type of Mexican food you may be used to. This feels more upscale Mexican, and has a distinctive twist to some of the meals.

Once you walk towards Pink Agave, get your phone or camera out – the entrance, albeit short, is pretty. Best to go take photos when Pink Agave is closed – anytime before dinner is good, so you won’t have other people in the photo.

Pink Agave Menu and Review

We had high expectations for Pink Agave after looking at the menu and seeing the impressive, modern-looking ambience, but it was more of a hit-and-miss experience. One reason why it was a little bit confusing was the small/medium/large plates configuration.

Initially, we were told that the chicken enchilada from the medium plate was very filling, but that wasn’t really the case as it was on the small side. It also took a while for the server to explain the menu when you first sit down and eat, which wasn’t necessary, in our view. They said that they wanted to do things differently at Pink Agave, but I didn’t think we needed a 5-10 minute explanation of how different it was.

Having to explain why something is different is not really the best way to get people to embrace the difference between what Pink Agave is striving to achieve vs other Mexican restaurants. If this were a specialty dining restaurant that I would have paid for, I would say skip this experience. It is included with your fare on Virgin though.

These are the menu items that we ordered:

Small Plates

  • Equites (grilled corn)

Medium Plates

  • Enchilada De Pollo

Large Plates

  • Pescado (sea bass)
  • Bistec Marinero (ribeye steak)

Dessert

  • Tacos De Chocolate
  • Capirotada (Bread Pudding)

The grilled corn came mixed with aioli and was quite good. It was warm and a little creamy, a nice way to start the meal. You also get a bowl of various assorted nuts, including wasabi-flavored, which was delicious.

The enchilada was good, and not overloaded with cheese, but not really all that filling. The sea bass was excellent and the ribeye was good as well. I was surprised that a Mexican place would have steak, but hey, it is on a cruise so I guess it’s a must-have on the menu?

For dessert, the server raved about the tacos de chocolate, so we gave them a try, but it wasn’t anything special, unfortunately. They were just larger sized cookies with chocolate filling, and the crust wasn’t great. The bread pudding was good, but just like any other bread pudding we could get.

Overall, we weren’t that impressed with Pink Agave, so we don’t rate it that high on our list. It still is a good place to try on the ship at least once though.

Razzle Dazzle Hours and Location in the Ship

Hours: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Location: Deck 5, on the other side of Sailor Services

Razzle Dazzle is one of two specialty restaurants that are open for brunch and dinner. It is also the only restaurant that’s the easiest to make reservations for, as availability was abundant. You probably can walk in and get a table quickly when you need to.

This restaurant is quite huge, with multiple rooms and different types of seating available. Kind of a shame seeing how huge it is but it’s not really that popular. The walls have that distinctive red/black pattern and paint on it that characterizes the Razzle Dazzle motif. There’s even portholes where you can look outside and see the water while cruising.

Perhaps it’s because the restaurant is dubbed as a vegan/vegetarian restaurant that’s putting a few people off, but what we did not know was there is a secret naughty menu that they provide, one that has meat!

Razzle Dazzle Menu and Review (Virgin Voyages Restaurants)

We only managed to eat at Razzle Dazzle for breakfast, the first time the day before we disembarked, and the second time on our disembarkation day. Unfortunately, we never got to dine here for dinner, as our cruise was only for 5 nights and there are 6 restaurants to choose from.

Here are the menu options that we managed to try during our two breakfasts at Razzle Dazzle.

Razzle Dazzle Appetizers

  • Avo Toast
  • Smoked Cheddar Jalapeno Croissant
  • Chocolate Chip Scone
  • Smoked Bacon

Razzle Dazzle Entrees

  • Razzle Dazzle Breakfast
  • Wild Mushroom Frittata
  • Turmeric Egg Scramble

Razzle Dazzle Sweets

  • Acai Bowl
  • Steelcut Oatmeal Brulee

I was most surprised by the Smoked Cheddar Jalapeno Croissant. You typically think of croissants filled with chocolate and dusted with sugar and almonds, but the combination of the cheddar and jalapenos is absolutely fantastic. That was Peter’s take. I, unfortunately, did not like that croissant when I tried it.

We tried a few of the egg dishes, and the richest is the Razzle Dazzle Breakfast, as it packs a lot of eggs and potatoes in there to almost make you forget lunch. This was Peter’s menu option, and it was very filling.

We also gave high marks to the Oatmeal Brulee (not too sweet) and the Acai Bowl. The downside with the acai bowl is that it almost comes in a bit frozen, so a bit too cold if you’re only used to eating hot food in the morning.

If you want to find the perfect bacon, order the Smoked Bacon from the Naughty menu. It’s caramelized, smoky, and pretty much like candy. This is the best thing ever in the breakfast menu from Razzle Dazzle. I lament the fact that I only discovered it on our last day and we were going to leave the ship in a few hours!

Go get the smoked bacon, you only get a few slices of it so order 2 servings if you love bacon. You won’t regret it! The naughty menu may not always be available for breakfast so do check with your server on what’s available.

Test Kitchen Hours and Location

Hours: Dinner only

Location: Deck 6

Test Kitchen is the one restaurant I was really scared of. I am not a fan of trying new meals out and I’m scared that they just might give me an all-vegetable dish that I will hate. Good thing that there were two menus – a vegetarian one and one with meat.

The restaurant tries to cater for any allergies or dietary restrictions, so some dishes may be substituted for others. My husband did not get to try the mushroom dish, and his dessert was also replaced with a sorbet since he was lactose-intolerant.

Sometimes the substitutions were better than the actual meal that they prepared, but that’s another story!

Test Kitchen Menu and Review (Virgin Voyages Restaurants)

Test Kitchen was the second hardest restaurant to book after Extra Virgin. You will understand why as soon as you sit down and eat the first of your six courses.

The menu and presentation at Test Kitchen is much different than the other restaurants. The concept is molecular gastronomy and playing around with common ingredients in unpredictable and still delicious ways.

We believe that the concept here is executed perfectly. We won’t say that every course was perfect in terms of taste, but all of them ranged from good to excellent and some of them were exquisite and entirely unexpected.

The service here is also fantastic, with servers that know the dishes they’re serving you and are happy to discuss the little details with you.

Test Kitchen Courses Review (Meat-Based)

The menus don’t have a name per se, and would just tell you the core ingredient in every dish that will come out. This type of thing made me really nervous and I just prayed that their dishes would be palatable to even the most picky eaters.

  • Mushroom
  • Egg
  • Scallops
  • Venison/Beef (I chose beef, and my husband chose venison)
  • Blue Cheese (or Mandarin Sorbet)
  • Chocolate

The mushroom dish comes in the shape of a mushroom, but with the texture of a paste. We were skeptical until we tasted it, and then it was just a flavor bomb inside our mouths. So mushroomy and amazing if you love mushrooms.

The egg course is presented on a covered plate, and will be opened in front of you as it smokes out and reveals the egg and green pea dish. It wasn’t that great to be honest, but the presentation was 10/10.

Now, the beef course – well, it looks like there was a splatter of blood all over the plate since the sauce is red and was splattered all over the beef dish. Not sure if that’s the intention but it didn’t stop me from eating the meat.

If you don’t want the Blue Cheese, they can substitute a mandarin sorbet. The presentation of this dish is pretty cool. The sorbet is stuffed inside an actual hollowed-out orange. As good as the presentation was, the sorbet was even better, probably the best sorbet we’ve ever had.

Is Test Kitchen worth returning to?

Probably not. The dishes are the same, unless you decide to go with the vegetarian option on your second visit. The dishes are the same, they are small portions, and frankly, I was not particularly impressed with a few of the dishes.

The meal lasted less than an hour, and since we were one of the last sittings, it may have something to do with it. The restaurant closes at 10pm but we got to the restaurant around 9:15pm, with our reservation slated for 9pm. If it wasn’t almost impossible to get a good time for a reservation in Test Kitchen, we would probably have enjoyed it more. Not sure how people fare when they opt to go on stand-by.

The Wake Hours and Location

Hours: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Location: Deck 7, at the back of the ship (aft) but before the Dock House

The Wake is beautiful. It reminds me of what a cruise ship’s main dining room will be on some of the other cruise lines we’ve taken. It feels elegant, fancy, and with a view of the wake left behind by the ship that you can see through huge windows as it moves through the water. Hence the name, the wake.

If you like steak and seafood, then the Wake should be a must-stop for you. Also, brunch. Because brunch is so popular now, this is probably the most popular restaurant on the ship for brunch.

The Wake Menu and Review (Virgin Voyages Restaurants)

One of the bigger locations as far as the restaurants go, the Wake has a beautiful curved entrance staircase that leads you down into the dining room. Service is excellent, though a meal here will take longer than elsewhere.

Here’s a list of menu items that we ate when we dined here for brunch and for dinner. Reserve a spot for both brunch and dinner since it could get pretty popular. We were actually turned away when we tried to get on the virtual queue one brunch time since they were already full and it was an hour before closing time.

Menu items change between brunch and dinner,

The Wake Appetizers

Clam Chowder

The Wake Entrees

  • Hanger Steak (for brunch)
  • Egg in a Hole (for brunch)
  • Pan Roasted King Ora Salmon (only available for dinner)
  • Filet Mignon (only available for dinner)

The Wake Desserts

  • Meyer Lemon Cheesecake
  • Chocolate cake (of sorts), we forgot the name!

When you get the clam chowder, you’ll probably get confused since it’s dry on the bowl and doesn’t look like clam chowder. The server will then pour the soup liquid on the bowl and it will create the clam chowder that you know. It looks bigger on the bowl but won’t fill you up too much.

The steaks were excellent, they will ask how you want it so they make it to your liking. The king salmon is smaller than what you would expect so order sides to help fill you up. Portions at the Wake are a bit smaller than at the other restaurants onboard, which is the case at any upscale steakhouse on land.

Food presentation overall was quite nice, and though the menu didn’t contain anything surprising, we couldn’t find much wrong with any of the dishes we tried.

We gave high marks to the Meyer Lemon Cheesecake, as that was the best dessert dish we had on the entire ship. In fact, I had two desserts during that dinner – a chocolate dish and the cheesecake, since I couldn’t decide which one to get!

The Dock House Hours and Location

Hours: Lunch & Dinner

Location: Deck 7, aft (back) of the ship

At first, the Dock House looks just like a big band area or chill out spot where live performances may happen at night. The inside area does not have the right table and chair setup to actually eat in, but was built mostly for lounging.

However, if you step out on the outdoor area, you can see a lot of activity happening. The Dock House has amazing food and is a hidden gem! The food is mostly tapas-style meals but are Mediterranean-inspired.

The Dock House Menu and Review (Virgin Voyages Restaurants)

Before we begin talking about the food, do not miss the Dock House for lunch or even afternoon snacks! You’ll get your fill of quality, amazing food! Here’s what we ate at the Dock House:

The Dock House Shareables

  • Chocolate Hummus
  • Goat Cheese Polenta
  • Grilled Shrimp
  • Spanish Octopus
  • Fire-Roasted Chicken Thigh
  • Hanger Steak

We didn’t expect the Dock House to be as good as it was. It was our first sea day and we needed something for lunch that was not going to be in the Galley. As you can see, we’re not that big a fan of the galley.  We sat down on one of the outside tables and were told that if we wanted food, we’d need to raise a little red flag that was on our table. Kind of like a small mailbox flag, but cuter and smaller.

Pretty soon, an attendant came over and asked for our order. We were hungry, so we pretty much tried all of the food options. After a few minutes, another attendant came over with a trolley of various dishes and we were free to pick any of them. You can’t get the grilled items from the trolley, but if you’re hungry, you can get a chocolate hummus and other room temperature starters from the trolley. They’re great to munch on while waiting for the grilled food.

They are all small dishes, so be sure to get more than a few in order to fill you up. From the grill, the two that stood out were the Grilled Shrimp and the Octopus. The shrimp were large and juicy, and they came in this yogurt-butter-garlic-oil concoction that was one of the best sauces we have ever tasted. It was so delicious we got a few more plates. Meanwhile, the octopus was soft, chewy and had a fantastic texture. Not too sticky on your throat.

The Dock House has an amazing view and ambiance

This was one of the more fun places to eat because we could do it outside and enjoy the air, and we could try a large variety of dishes and not feel overly full because they were all small.

Oh, and there is a live tree in the back of the ship. You can also watch the wake coming from the ship so that’s a plus. Since you’re outdoors, it also helps if you are feeling a bit queasy, since you can have the breeze to your face and is an instant pick-me-upper.

Upstairs is the big net – see if people lie on it if they dare. It’s such a fun place to hang out!

The Pizza Place (Virgin Voyages Restaurants)

We only tried the Pizza Place once, when we were looking for a place to try and have a snack before our late-ish dinner at Pink Agave. Luckily, the Pizza Place had no line and we could opt to sit outside and eat if we wanted to.

The pizzas are freshly made. You order from the menu or opt to customize your own pizza, and they give you a buzzer which would vibrate when your order is ready. We ordered a simple pepperoni pizza which we opted to share between the 2 of us.

Outdoor seating is available and is a great spot to just sit and enjoy the meal. It’s a quick sit down restaurant but is way better than some of the food carts at the galley, at least in our opinion.

Lick Me Till… Ice Cream

Hours: Varies

Location: Deck 7

Love ice cream? There’s an ice cream scoopery onboard and you have to try it!  The hours vary and the flavors remain relatively unchanged throughout the cruise except for special flavors that pop up. Don’t know what I’m talking about? Go to the game show hosted by the Foodie. The winner of that ice cream tasting game gets to name the featured special flavor!

There are lactose free options available, which was perfect for my lactose-intolerant husband. This stand is no gelato stand, but has great selections – unless you decide to go back daily and try all the flavors they have.

On non-event days, there usually is no line, but if it’s after a hot shore day, there usually is a queue to get ice cream. It usually goes quickly so don’t let that deter you from trying the delicious flavors.

The Galley Hours and Location

Hours: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Location: Deck 15

Finally, we come to the dreaded “buffet” dining option. We didn’t really know what to expect when we first entered the Galley on our first day. We knew Virgin emphasized the specialty restaurants and the Galley wasn’t really featured too much in their advertising.

In a nutshell: the Galley is a good option for breakfast, but not so much for lunch and dinner.

The Galley Menu Options and Review (Virgin Voyages Restaurants)

The most annoying thing about the Galley was the fact that you have to hail down staff to put your order in. Virgin put this new rule in to prohibit people touching foods in the buffet due to the pandemic, so now you’ll have to flag down a staff member to order. They mark it on a mobile device then is brought to your table by the staff.

Virgin didn’t mention this at all before we boarded, so the first day was complete chaos. People kept asking the staff how they could get the food, and the staff had to repeatedly state that they would take their order and then bring it to them. We felt it was not communicated well in advance by Virgin, and the result was people running after the servers and asking them the same question a thousand times. That, or guests would queue up in front of the booths only to be told that they have to sit and order from a server.

What to Expect from The Galley (the buffet) in Virgin Voyages

The Galley setup is similar to buffet spreads at other ships. The difference here is that Virgin tried to make it a food-truck feel and try to differentiate among the various options like tacos, sandwiches, ramen, etc. The design was nice and we liked some of the stations (The Bread Bar being the best one), but it didn’t feel all that different from a typical buffet station on Royal Caribbean, for example.

The breakfast food is quite good and the variety of breads, pastries, and teas was nice. We tried the Ramen place and the Deli place once for lunch, but it wasn’t anything special. The popsicle cart was a nice touch and they were pretty decent. Made from real fruit, try to get some before they run out.

That was the ultimate guide to the Virgin Voyages dining options

If you have made it this far, thank you for reading our post. We do have a service ranking that we’ve also made below if you’re also looking for that sort of thing. Have a fun time in your cruise and we’ll see you on the next post update, when we go back onboard!

Best Virgin Voyages Restaurants in terms of service

  1. Extra Virgin
  2. Gunbae
  3. Test Kitchen
  4. The Wake
  5. Pink Agave
  6. Razzle Dazzle

First, we need to note that we ate lunch and/or dinner at each restaurant on this list, except for Razzle Dazzle (only breakfast). Therefore, while we enjoyed the Razzle Dazzle breakfast and tried a large variety of items, we didn’t feel it was so special that it would catapult it over the other restaurants.

Guide to Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady Restaurants
Guide to Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady Restaurants

Which restaurant is the best in service on Virgin Voyages?

Extra Virgin came first in our ranking because it ranked highly in each of the three categories we used to judge each restaurant:

  • Service (1st)
  • Ambience (2nd)
  • Food (1st)

Gunbae came second. Its service was the most fun and entertaining, and it also had good food and a nice ambience.

  • Service (2nd)
  • Ambience (3rd)
  • Food (3rd)

Test Kitchen was our 3rd favorite restaurant. The food was the most interesting and unpredictable among all the restaurants (thus living up to its name) and the service was excellent as well.

  • Service (3rd)
  • Ambience (5th)
  • Food (2nd)

The Wake almost made our 3rd place, as there wasn’t much differentiating it from the Test Kitchen. The ambience was by far the best out of all the restaurants and the service and food was good as well.

  • Service (4th)
  • Ambience (1st)
  • Food (4th)

We had high expectations for Pink Agave, and though they weren’t really met, the experience was still enjoyable. Nice ambiance, but the food and service were a little lower rated than the other restaurants.

  • Service (5th)
  • Ambience (4th)
  • Food (5th)

The last restaurant on our list is Razzle Dazzle, but like we noted above, we only experienced the breakfast menu and not lunch and/or dinner.

  • Service (6th)
  • Ambience (6th)
  • Food (6th)
