In our original Lonely Planet Ultimate Travel List post, we break down the top 225 places to see in the Lonely Planet Book. Our list only had 180, which meant that we had cut a few of them from the original post because we have no intention of visiting them: either they are so remote (or expensive) to get to, or that it entails actually climbing up mountains or other tasks we are not particularly thrilled about. However, some of the places on the list intrigued us so much that we actually wanted to include them in our Travel & Adventure list (aka bucket list).

Our first part of the blog had us visiting 33/180 collectively, or around 18% and we will tally that original number up to what we visited on this bottom 300 list to get the final number. As always, we will update these posts with new destinations as we come across them.

Lonely Planet Ultimate Travel List – Bottom 300

1. Museo del Prado – Madrid, Spain (we’ll probably only look at it from the outside)
2. Alcatraz – San Francisco, USA
3. Piazza del Campo – Siena, Italy
4. Postojna Cave & Predjama Castle – Slovenia
5. Rila Monastery – Bulgaria (actually saw this from a documentary and was actually cool)
6. The Bund – Shanghai, China (Ruby in June 2012)
7. Rijksmuseum – Amsterdam, Netherlands (my Dutch friends highly recommend this museum)
8. Pont du Gard Aqueduct – France (near Avignon)
9. Alcazar of Seville – Seville, Spain (a royal palace)
10. Singapore Zoo – Singapore (Ruby in 2000 and 2012)
11. Wadi Rum – Jordan
12. Luxor temple – Luxor, Egypt
13. Natural History Museum – London, England (ugh, missed a chance to go here, went to the Science museum instead but entrance is free!)
14. Cinque Terre – Italy
15. Borobudur – Yogyakarta, Indonesia
16. Duomo – Milan, Italy
17. Burj Khalifa – Dubai, United Arab Emirates
18. Bwindi National Park – Uganda (yes, gorillas again! Wild ones. As per The Points Guy, a trek here can cost upwards of $700!)
19. Silfra – Iceland (snorkel or dive between two continents: I would totally do it except the cold water is a bit of a turn off)
20.  Citadelle la Ferriere – Haiti (a great historical building)
21. Itsukushima Shrine – Miyajima Island, Japan
22. Lincoln Memorial – Washington DC, USA (May 2015)
23. Chateau de Chenonceau – France (in a little town, but beautiful chateau nontheless)
24. Valley of the Moon – Chile (not sure we’ll ever get here, but it looks interesting enough)
25. September 11 Museum & Memorial (January 2016) – we went to the memorial but the museum costs a lot of money!
26. Perito Moreno Glacier – Argentina (almost close to Torres del Paine; maybe we’ll visit, maybe not)
27. Mt McKinley (Denali) – Alaska, USA (woohoo going there May 2017!)
28. Arenal Volcano – Costa Rica (a friend went there last year)
29. Asa Wright Nature Centre – Trinidad & Tobago
30. Picos de Europa National Park – Northern Spain (not sure we’ll get there but including it in the list too just in case)

32. Death Valley National Park – Nevada, USA (almost went here during our Vegas 2015 trip but didn’t have time)
