On a trip to New York City this February, we got a chance to try out the Tube travel pillow as we flew up and back. The premise was simple: it is a travel pillow that also doubles as a free additional personal item on the plane.
Yeah, it’s a travel pillow, big deal, there’s plenty out there – so what makes it so special? Well, instead of fake stuffing inside the pillow, you actually stuff your clothes inside it, so you save on space and on baggage.
We got an opportunity to review the product since it was owned by another Jacksonville local, and why not? The premise was great!
We travel a lot (personally) and we hate paying extra for checked or carry on luggage if we’re traveling. We would rather use that money for experiences, food, or more travel! So, this travel pillow is a good idea for people who only travel with hand luggage (✋) and need extra space on their backpacks or personal item allocations on the plane.
The tube website conveniently has a video on how to use the travel pillow practically, but in essence, you open both sides of the tube, roll your clothes, and start stuffing it in there.
Now, it’s easier to put items on the travel pillow that won’t crease much, so casual wear will be more ideal, or a blanket or a jacket that you don’t want to tote around separately of you’re not sure of the weather.
It’s also better if you fill the whole pillow up from end to end – that way, you’ll have the stiffness of the pillow for your flight (good for pregnant people like me who need lumbar support), or your baby, who needs to feed from a bottle on a flight or a place to sleep in.
The material itself is water resistant, so any clothes inside is fairly safe from rain or any liquid splashing on the outside due to use.
This review is unbiased, and we are not paid to write this. As a disclosure, we did get the Tube travel pillow for free in exchange for a review.
The tube travel pillow is an excellent travel companion that you can take with you on both domestic and international trips. Not only does it help save you on luggage space, it also provides needed comfort if you needed to have a pillow or if you just love sleeping whenever you can.
The pillow also saves on much needed luggage space, so you don’t have to pay as much in baggage fees to the airline, nor do you have to tote as many bags to the airport.
Overall, this pillow is very functional and efficient to carry. I do like the premise and the idea behind the travel pillow, as it is fairly new and novel.
