12 Hour Lisbon Layover? Head to Sintra Portugal: An Itinerary
For our Spain trip, we booked a flight with a 12 hour layover in Lisbon, Portugal. Most people cringe at the thought of a layover because that may mean sitting in the airport twiddling your thumbs as you wait for your next flight. We love long layovers if they are tactical enough that you can visit two (or more) destinations in one trip. Trip map courtesy of Wanderlog, a trip planner app Planning a 12 Hour Lisbon Layover: An Itinerary to Sintra Portugal For this trip, we flew TAP Portugal. Booked using 50,000 Merrill Points & $200-ish in cash. We picked the option that allowed us to land at around…
Schengen Visa Application for Philippine Passport (for Free)
Marrying a European meant that we do have to go to Europe every now and again to visit family or just go sightseeing. The problem with that is, I need to get a Schengen visa since I have a Philippine passport. Not to worry, did you know you can get a free Schengen visa application with a Philippine passport? There is a catch though – you’ll have to prove that your family member is a European citizen. The process is almost the same as a Schengen visa, but is easier because of the EU’s right to free movement, and of course, free and faster. Since there are not much articles…
Lonely Planet Ultimate Travel List (Bottom 300)
In our original Lonely Planet Ultimate Travel List post, we break down the top 225 places to see in the Lonely Planet Book. Our list only had 180, which meant that we had cut a few of them from the original post because we have no intention of visiting them: either they are so remote (or expensive) to get to, or that it entails actually climbing up mountains or other tasks we are not particularly thrilled about. However, some of the places on the list intrigued us so much that we actually wanted to include them in our Travel & Adventure list (aka bucket list). Our first part of the…
Here’s what we did with 25 vacation days (in 2016)
Despite the implications of the title, “What We Did With Our 25 Vacation Days”, this is not a bragging post. We know that we’re lucky to work for a company which grants that many days off, especially in America. Rather, we just want to show how far you can stretch your days off and visit different places, and save some money in order to inspire you to do the same. Want to know how? This is what we did with our 25 vacation days: A summary of the places we visited, including Foreign Countries, U.S. States, and U.S. Cities: Foreign Countries – Jamaica, Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Slovakia, Czech Republic…
Dallas Texas on a budget
Our first successful random airline roulette was in Dallas, Texas! What started out as just something to do during a long holiday ended up being a really fun adventure ahead! Here’s how we managed to do this trip on a budget: Flights Spirit, an ultra low cost carrier flying from MCO, Orlando International, had a sale going on and we got a round-trip ticket with checked bags for $117 per person! Read more about our experience here. Tip: It’s an okay airline, but you do get what you pay for (Read: don’t expect too much!) Hotels We used AwardMapper to find hotels in the area where we can use points to…
