Bar and Lounge Guide on Virgin Voyages

Guide to Lounges and Bars on Virgin Voyages

We are big fans of Virgin Voyages and have covered a lot of articles based on our 3 cruises with them. Here’s our guide to lounges and bars on Virgin Voyages, so you’ll know where you can grab a drink onboard the ship. These are primarily based on Scarlet Lady but will update once we step foot on the newer ships.

When Virgin says they have a huge focus on food and other experiences for adults, they’re not kidding. There are a total of 12 bars and lounges where you can grab something to drink on the ship. If you include the Booty Free Shop, Pink Agave’s mezcal bar, and

The Manor on Virgin Voyages: a nightclub, theater, and bar in one

The Manor is Virgin’s primary nightclub, lounge, and performance venue. It’s a two-story venue, with tables and lounges on Deck 6 and a standing-room space close to the bar. There are also barstools and standing-room spaces on Deck 7.

The entrance is one of the most spectacular sights on the ship, with a sea of glitter-like mirrors that follow you into the club. It’s one of the most Instagrammable photo spots on the ship. You will often find yourself waiting for people to take a picture, or be waved through while they set up the perfect shot.

Inside, it looks like a standard-issue nightclub. There are bar areas on both floors, and the lighting is dark and nightclub-y. There are bathrooms on the ground floor. However, even if you are not the type of person that goes to nightclubs on land or sea, don’t let that stop you from visiting! Some of the best entertainment on Virgin Voyages happens here.

The Manor is the home to the shows Around the World in 80 Minutes by the Diva, How to be the perfect hostess by the Hostess, and Never Sleep Alone with Dr. A. It’s also the home to a quick 15 to 20-minute show by the acrobats in Duel Reality in a show called Circus Disco.

What shows can I watch in the Manor on Virgin Voyages?

We talk about this more in our entertainment on Virgin Voyages post. Here’s another quick guide:

  • Around the World with the Diva
  • Never Sleep Alone
  • How to be the perfect hostess
  • Circus Disco

Where is the Manor on Virgin Voyages?

The Manor is located on Deck 6 and Deck 7, mid-ship. The easiest way to know where to find it is to go to the casino, and there will be a door on the side. This then leads through the iconic mirror room to the Manor. It is very confusing trying to navigate your way through the mirror room but is an amazing photo spot.

You’ll also know where the manor is when it is 30 minutes or less before a show. The standby line generally opens early but you may find queues to get in so reserve your tickets early if you can!

The Red Room: the main entertainment venue of Virgin Voyages

The Red Room is the largest entertainment venue on the ship. The venue has auditorium-style seating and a large stage that is used for three of the big ticket entertainment shows on Virgin: Ships in the Night, Duel Reality, and #UntitledDanceshowPartyThing. The Red Room also hosts the Bingo game with the Diva, where you may win some money that you can use to pay for your cruise!

The Red Room can handle regular seating but it can also be repurposed to have two sides of seating, one side of seating, or no seating at all. Virgin Voyages spreads out its entertainment offerings to different venues. They do not cram everything into the largest venue, as is the case with some other cruise lines. The Red Room was the perfect place for a show like Duel Reality, where you need a bigger amount of space for the acrobats.

We were lucky enough to sail on Virgin during the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Virgin used the Red Room to show the 2022 World Cup Semi-final games on a large theater-type screen. It was a fantastic experience watching the game with other cruisers from different countries. Some of the Virgin staff was even draped with flags of the countries that played, and the atmosphere, though tense, was lively and fun, with complimentary popcorn.

During Scarlet Night, pop over to the Red Room when the hostess sings a 15-minute interlude about the myth of Scarlet Night. If the weather is terrible and the party can’t be held on the pool deck, the Scarlet Night after-party may be held in the Red Room.

Where is the Red Room in Scarlet Lady?

The Red Room is accessible from Deck 6 and is located at the front of the ship. The main area to check in during shows is through a long corridor past the Sip Lounge (the Champagne bar).

Where is On the Rocks Bar on Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady

On the Rocks is a bar and lounge area located on Deck 6 under the Roundabout. It is the hub area for Scarlet Night and is usually where the live music is usually playing in the afternoons and evenings. There are plenty of spots to sit around and listen to music or just rest and wait for someone.

The Roundabout is the area in the middle of the ship with the stairs overlooking the 6th and 7th floors. If you see the lounge chairs at the bottom, you’ve found On the Rocks! It is a super high-traffic area because the shops are dotted adjacent to it on the 6th floor.

The Hostess has a show in this area, and the morning show hosted by the Charmer and the Glow is On the Rocks. On our cruise, it was also the venue for the Seablazers cocktail hour where you can get a glass of wine or a sangria completely free of charge. This was part of the Virgin Voyages Sailing Club perk.

What is the Draught Haus on Virgin Voyages

If you look closely past the DJ spinning some tunes on Deck 7, you’ll see a small bar by the corner of the Roundabout. This is the Draught House. Home to beers and other treats, the lounge area is a bit more secluded from the hustle and bustle of Deck 7.

Beer and other alcoholic beverages are generally not included in your Virgin Voyages fare but you can save money by loading a preset amount on your bar tab and Virgin will match it by loading a few extra dollars on it, free of charge. Promotions do vary so keep checking to see which one may apply to you.

What is The Sip Champagne Lounge

On the forward part of the ship (front), on the 6th Floor, there is a long stretch of lounge chairs and tables and a sizable bar. This is the Sip Champagne Lounge. You will usually pass by the Sip Champagne Lounge when you pass by the Casino on your way to the Red Room.

There is a huge Swarovski-encrusted Moet and Chandon Imperial bottle displayed proudly in the Champagne Lounge but is enclosed in glass. This is the lounge that hosts Charmer’s story of Scarlet Night, as well as tea time, where an additional fee applies, and is only available on certain sea days during the voyage.

Throughout the day, the Champagne Lounge has a variety of snacks like chocolate croissants, muffins, and other delectable treats, free of charge. All you have to do is ask the bartender for what you want and they will hand it over.

Where is the Loose Cannon Bar on Virgin Voyages

The Loose Cannon is a small bar that is largely used for Trivia-style games during the cruise. Trivia games are a big part of cruise life, and even though Virgin does things differently than other cruise lines, it largely keeps things traditional for its trivia games. There is a dedicated trivia host (The Gamer) and they do most of them in the Loose Cannon. There are three booths on both sides of the room and a few tables in the middle. The bar, when packed, accommodates about 30 people.

The main activities are Salty Trivia, Mind-benders, and Speed Puzzle games. Pretty much where the Gamer resides, with some board games also available at the Social Club.  The bar is located at the back of the room. In addition to beers and a few wines, the bar also serves up cannon and pirate-themed cocktails.

The Loose Cannon opens at 12 pm each day and is located on Floor 7, right next door to the Social Club.

Where is The Social Club on Virgin Voyages

The Social Club is a bar/recreational area located right next door to The Loose Cannon. It’s called the Social Club because the area next to the bar contains a variety of pub-style games like foosball, air hockey, curling (or sand curling), and arcade games. There are also two large flat-screen TVs in the bar, which usually contain sports TV channels.

The bar itself contains the usual selection of beer/wine/liquors, but it also serves bar food (hot dogs and popcorn). The Social Club has a greater capacity than The Loose Cannon, as it can probably fit around 60-70 people. The Social Club plays a role on Scarlet Night, as the Diva typically plays karaoke here. There is also one music/dance-themed trivia game held here as well, though it is not hosted by The Gamer, but by two other members of the Happenings Cast.

You can also get free desserts and popcorn from the Social Club, plus spiked milkshakes for an additional cost. The Social Club is located on Floor 7.

Where are the Dock and the Dock House on Scarlet Lady

The Dock and the Dock House are adjacent to each other on the aft (back of the boat) on Deck 7. The Dock House is located outdoors, with a view of the waves that the ship generates while it is moving. It gets a bit hot in there if you go in the middle of the day during the Caribbean but the views are worth it.

The Dock House even serves food. Lift up the flag located on your table and a server will get your order. You can even place your drink orders directly from the server without going to the bar itself.

To read more about the Dock House food, see our Restaurants on Virgin Voyages post.

The Dock is a social spot located before the Dock House. It’s usually empty when there are no events, so it is a great spot to work, chill, or hang out. It is a venue for one of the most fun trivia games we have ever done, and that’s when the place gets really busy. You can get fresh juices from the bar as well as alcoholic drinks. Both are additional fees that count as part of your bar tab.

What is The Aquatic Club Bar on Virgin Voyages

Not to be confused with the Athletic Club Bar, the Aquatic club is beside the pool and is always busy with people. The busiest time is when there are parties on the pool deck. Think Scarlet Night when the line of people waiting to order drinks is long, but the bar staff always seem to somehow keep up. This bar is facing the huge jacuzzi-type pool where you can lounge and just relax. This bar does have frozen drinks on offer, a must-try if it’s bloody hot outside.

Where is The Athletic Club Bar on Virgin Voyages

The Athletic Club is located on one of the highest floors of the ship and is right in front of the iconic net. Not to be mistaken for the Aquatic Club bar, because you know, they basically have the same name. Let’s face it, you won’t even know the names of these bars when you’re just looking for a place to get a drink.

The iconic net is a signature of Virgin Voyages ships. You can lie down and see the ship’s wake from up top as the ship is moving. It’s not a place for people who are afraid of heights, but this bar is generally not one of the busy ones that we have encountered on the ship. Whenever we went up here, there were only a few people waiting to order drinks.

What is the Grounds Club on Virgin Voyages

Don’t drink but are addicted to coffee and want a spot to just hang around or work a bit that’s not inside your room? You can head over to the Grounds Club and order a coffee or a tea and a barista makes it for you. Don’t want to pay extra for specialty coffee or tea? No worries, you can also get some snacks and sweets from the Grounds Club. Located on Deck 7 before the Social Club, the Grounds Club is also the venue for a photo booth during Scarlet Night.

The Grounds Club closes around 8:00 pm but opens early for early risers. This is also one of the places where you can use the $10 in free coffee or tea lattes as a perk of the Sailing Club.

Where is the Gym and Tonic Bar on Scarlet Lady

Don’t drink but want something healthy? How about fresh juices? Head on over to the Gym and Tonic bar, which is a full bar but also serves fresh juices. Rejuvenation shakes are available after a great workout at the B-Club or just a place to hang out by the pool. Yes, this is another bar that is on the pool deck, so you are more than welcome to bring your drinks to the pool area.

The Gym and Tonic Bar is located on Deck 15.

Where is The Sun Club Bar on Scarlet Lady

Located on Deck 16, overlooking the pool deck and close to the cabanas and training camp is the Sun Club Bar. It is yet another place to grab drinks, and so far, we have not really seen it very busy except during Sail away parties and Scarlet Night festivities.

The Bars and Lounges in Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady

With all these bars and lounges dotted throughout the ship, it isn’t hard to find a public spot to claim for yourself. It’s also never easier to grab a drink, as almost every public area deck on the ship has a lounge or a bar ready to take your order. It just depends on your preferences and wherever your libations take you. Would you prefer to stay inside or outside? Do you prefer the lounge or bar to be more lively and happening or prefer a quiet place to read, relax or work?

We love that Virgin has a lot of these spaces that kind of cater to every personality type there is. Honestly, I sometimes just sit in a lounge area on sea days to get a bit of work done so I don’t have to work in my room. The change of scenery is a breath of fresh air that puts me in my flow state.
